SutterHelps Website Receives National Achievement Award - September 5, 2006
Sutter County Departments of Information Technology and
Human Services received a coveted Achievement Award from the
National Association of Counties (NACO) at that organization's annual meeting in Chicago on August 7, 2006.
The award was granted for the development
and implementation of SutterHelps.org, a Web-based information site which gives individuals an opportunity to see which of 16
eligibility-based programs they might benefit from. SutterHelps provides preliminary eligibility indication for programs
ranging from School Lunch to Medi-Cal. This program is one of a kind in California and is available free of charge to users.
The program was conceptualized by staff from the Department of Human Services and created by staff from the
Department of Information Technology. No outside consultants were used and the program runs on existing
Sutter County equipment. Sutter County Supervisor Larry Montna was present for the award presentation and
received the award on behalf of Sutter County and the two departments involved.
NACO Achievement Awards are granted each year to counties for innovative programs in 20 different categories.
The 2006 awards were granted to 97 counties representing 27 different states.
